Last checked: 7 Oct 2026
In Qatar, healthcare workers are licensed by the Department of Healthcare Professions (DHP) at the Ministry of Public Health. In most cases, your future employer starts the licensing process for you.
The steps
- Get a job offer from a hospital or clinic in Qatar.
- Your employer submits your licensing application to the DHP.
- Complete primary source verification through DataFlow.
- Pass the licensing exam, a computer-based test (usually at Prometric centres).
- Your employer sponsors your work visa and residence permit, and you receive your licence.
Good to know
- Qatar usually asks for at least 2 years of recent clinical experience.
- Many employers give housing, transport or allowances. Check your contract.
Watch out: In Qatar, recruitment agencies are not allowed to charge workers fees. If someone asks you to pay to get the job, report it.
